Jeffrey W. Barbeau is a literary critic, theologian, biographer, and historian. The author and editor of multiple books, articles, and reviews on British Romanticism, religion and literature, and the history of Christian thought, he is the author of The Last Romantic: C. S. Lewis, English Literature, and Modern Theology (2025) and has also edited The Cambridge Companion to British Romanticism and Religion (2021), written a history of world Methodism (2019), and produced the first anthology of writings on religion in the English Romantic period (2018). He is the editor of The Coleridge Bulletin: The Journal of the Friends of Coleridge. The Times Literary Supplement praised his intellectual biography of Sara Coleridge (2014), remarking that “Sara Coleridge emerges from these pages as an intellectually formidable, powerfully compassionate and rigorously scholarly figure who bore the many difficulties of her life with profound nobility.”
