I returned to school to earn a MLIS in children's literature after working in the architectural/engineering field. I absolutely loved being a Children's Librarian for 20 years and reading children's literature. I always wanted to write for children and it was during this time that I also pursued a MFA in creative writing for children and young adults. I started writing seriously in 2010 and felt validated after winning the 2014 Karen and Philip Cushman Late Bloomers Award for a nonfiction manuscript called Octopus Capers. I took advantage of the opportunity to stop working and write full-time. I joined multiple critique groups, both online and in person, and have written young adult historical fiction, middle grade fantasy, nonfiction picture books, and picture books. I am agented by Stephen Fraser of Jennifer de Chiara Literary Agency. HER EYES WERE ON THE STARS is my first published book, and I have plans for a Halloween picture book to be out in time for the holiday in 2024.
