With 42 years as an RN—36 of those focused on addiction recovery—I’ve developed a sharp eye for detail and an ability to find humor, even in the most challenging moments. These skills naturally found their way into my debut thriller, Black Laguna. Though I grew up in a small town, my love for adventure started early. At just 10 years old, I’d sneak off to New York City without my parents’ knowledge, absorbing the sights and energy of the bustling metropolis. Now, after living most of my adult life in the vibrant, artistic hub of Laguna Beach, I’ve come to see how environments shape people. In Black Laguna, the setting plays as powerful a role as the characters themselves, bringing the world to life in unexpected ways.
