Born in 1987 and growing up as part of a small town in Upstate New York, Joshua became fascinated with writing at a young age. Between poetry writings and short stories, he showed a great deal of interest in the written word. Because of this, he continued writing into adulthood. Joshua first came in contact with other cultures through an exchange program in his High School. In the springs of both 2005 and 2006 he toured the Chinese cities and countryside through this program between his small High School and a school located in Nanjing. It was through experiences like this that Joshua began to shape the characters he would later develop. Joshua has always wanted to be a published novelist. He is continually inspired by authors like J. R. R. Tolkien, Jack London, and Lian Hearn. It was through books by these authors that he learned the beauty of the written word and the dichotomy of human perspective.
