Kathryn Randall’s interest in science and writing began in elementary school. In 3rd grade, she collected rocks, leaves and seeds, and wrote her first story about life in an anthill. In 7th grade, her biochemist neighbor, witnessing her love for science, gifted her a chromatography column. she instantly fell in love with experiments and uncovering how our world works. With this love of the scientific process, Kathy chose a career encouraging curiosity and research among young people. Through the ensuing decades, she always hoped to one day write stories for young people, inspiring them to be curious about our natural world. The Listening Tree is her debut novel. When she is not writing, she volunteers at a local nature center, spends time with her grandchildren and bakes anything with cinnamon crumble topping.
