Kathy is a certified executive coach with a background in industry and a passion to work with leaders to change the world, one conversation at a time. Kathy is a retired occupational therapist whose work in industry helped her understand the importance of leadership in organizations and motivated her to complete a MA in Leadership and Training at Royal Roads University. Her work in the coaching field showed her the power of communication skills, awareness of self and relationships. She found the underlying key to all of these is reflection, learning and being open and non-judging to better understand others. She is a self -described ‘learning junkie’. The more she became curious and focused on relationships, the more she realized most people fail to explore and seek to understand, preferring to stay stuck in their own heads and perspectives. This creates confusion and leads to conflict. Not the way to support collaboration and create understanding. Working with her daughter Kirsten, she became curious, exploring different communication models and ways of being in conversation. They observed how people tended to hold to their own perspectives and beliefs, failing to appreciate those of others. Instead, people make the assumption that others have the same unique perspectives they do, even though the experiences of others can be very different from theirs. The more they explored, the more they shared with others in their work when coaching and facilitating learning with clients. The feedback shared reflected many ‘aha’ moments for their clients and an opportunity to share their thoughts with others. Kathy is continuously motivated by those she connects with and tries to be the inspiration that supports others to be the best they can be. She is a positive person whose glass is always half full (sometimes with wine), who believes fun and laughter are fundamental to a life well-lived. Kathy is a lifelong learner who supports and encourages others in their learning journey. She believes when someone believes in themselves, they can do just about anything. She lives in the Okanagan region of British Columbia, Canada and enjoys hiking, water sports, skiing, cycling, cooking and travel. Kathy believes 'we can all change the world, one conversation at a time.'
