Kia DuPree received the Fiction Honor Book Award from the Black Caucus of the American Library Association for her debut novel ROBBING PETER (Prism Pages 2004) in 2005. Her follow-up book, DAMAGED, was the first novel published as part of a three-book deal with Hachette’s Grand Central Publishing in 2010. DAMAGED was called a “knockout” and “…raw gritty, uncompromising realism” by the Library Journal. Kia also wrote SILENCED (2011), called “an outstanding achievement” and SHATTERED (2012)—given a starred review by Publisher’s Weekly—was called “riveting.” Her short story, “Lost One,” was included in national bestselling author Shannon Holmes’ anthology, HOOD 2 HOOD. The Washington, D.C. native—a university professor—lives in Maryland with her two favorite people.
