About the Authors: As a married couple, Lisa and John began their anti-aging journey together in 2016. Lisa’s first foray into health was as a student at Maharishi International University where she learned to meditate and later graduated with a degree in psychology with a focus on psychophysiology. Later, she graduated with a master’s degree in counseling from Rutgers University in NJ. Lisa started her career as a mental health associate (Fair Oaks Hospital - Summit, NJ) where she worked with eating disorder patients. In time, Lisa directed her energies and attention toward the area of health and fitness. Subsequently, she established and operated three fitness businesses over a period of 17 years, including two health clubs. Lisa also worked as a health educator for a local NJ endocrinologist leading medically supervised weight loss classes which entailed teaching people needing to lose weight about healthy lifestyle changes. This was the first time she had experienced the marriage of medicine and lifestyle changes. An experience that really opened the door to her interest in combining the latest research on longevity and anti-aging with lifestyle changes. The thrust of Lisa's whole life has been to promote health and wellness. Through writing she hopes to share all that she has learned on her journey. John has been dedicated to personal health and fitness since his early 20’s. The turning point was when he woke up one morning and could hardly get out of bed. He had played three hours of tennis the day before with a high school friend... It was 1976 when John received his college degree in Civil Engineering. The next year he began his career in a sedentary desk job with the US Environmental Protection Agency. It was this inactivity, even at the strapping age of 23, that left John vulnerable to injury after just 3 hours of exercise on the courts. From that painfully challenging morning forward, John decided he needed to seriously take care of himself, quickly joining a gym, being more careful about what he ate and starting a supplement regimen. Later in life, John realized from the successes in his work in environmental management that, given half a chance, living systems can rejuvenate themselves, and that included the human body. Witnessing the ability of nature to recover from pollution and neglect, John appreciates how lifestyle changes and other interventions can improve our health and longevity, even reversing any damage done. Using his science based background John brings a discerning, objective eye to relevant research in the health and wellness field and shares it in a way that makes it easy to understand.
