Peter G. Klein is a professor, speaker, writer, and consultant who studies entrepreneurship, in-novation, business strategy, and public policy toward business. His 2010 book The Capitalist and the Entrepreneur (Mises Institute) explains the unique role of the capitalist-entrepreneur in a market economy and his 2012 book Organizing Entrepreneurial Judgment (Cambridge University Press) shows how entrepreneurs deal with the uncertain future as they organize and co-ordinate unique bundles of valuable resources. His newest book: Why Managers Matter: The Perils of the Bossless Company (PublicAffairs/Hachette), coming in October 2022, explores the flattening hierarchy and the role of the traditional manager in the digital, networked, knowledge-based economy. Klein is Chair of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Corporate Innovation at Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business, where he also holds the W. W. Caruth Endowed Chair and directs the academic program of the Baugh Center for Entrepreneurship and Free Enterprise. He also serves as Adjunct Professor of Strategy and Management at the Norwegian School of Economics and Carl Menger Research Fellow at the Mises Institute. He is author or editor of seven books and over 140 scholarly articles, chapters, and reviews. He co-edits the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal and is Past Chair of the Entrepreneurship Division of the Academy of Management, the largest global association of management researchers and teachers. He serves on the editorial boards of several other academic journals and the advisory boards of research centers in the US, Brazil, and South Africa. He received his PhD in 1995 from the University of California, Berkeley, where he studied un-der the 2009 Nobel Laureate Oliver E. Williamson. He has held faculty positions at the University of Missouri, the Copenhagen Business School, the University of Georgia, and Washington University in St. Louis and has guest lectured at universities in North and South America, Europe, Africa, and China. He was a Senior Economist with the President’s Council of Economic Advisers in 2000–01, specializing in business regulation, and has testified before the U.S. Congress on the economic organization of the Federal Reserve System.
