Shannon Kernaghan is a published author and columnist. Her works range from self-help to satire and appear in books, journals and magazines. For many years she wrote a weekly newspaper column on the irony of life and the laughter it creates. Shannon sold real estate with her husband Paul, and as a power team they marketed new construction, residential and commercial properties. Over the years she collected numerous sales awards and fine-tuned her smart home selling strategies, capped off with writing SELL YOUR HOME PRIVATELY. A unique twist is her emphasis on personal safety. When selling privately, homeowners must know how to protect themselves and their property, both literally and contractually! Another aspect is her support for reputable agents. Unless homeowners possess enough of the key qualities needed to navigate a home sale, she recommends they use a qualified professional. Selling real estate with her partner motivated her to create another book: FROM BEDSHEETS TO SPREADSHEETS: HOW TO SHARE A CAREER AND STAY IN LOVE. This two-year project involved extensive research and interviews with couples who successfully work in "dual" roles. Shannon knows that working side-by-side at home and at work requires a special brand of dynamic, mindset and effort. With help from other flourishing duals, she shares invaluable advice. Her pull towards writing for children was inspired by two factors: a desire to create stories worth sharing and the discovery of a great illustrator who showcases her growing line of picture books. In her first BERL HIVES book, Berl the bee arrives from another place and must live with Aunt Bea and Uncle Hank in Nectarville. At first he's an "out of towner" until Berl is accepted in his new bee colony. He learns plenty about his new friends and himself in the process. In BORDER CROSSING, Berl worries that his parents won't be able to cross the border. All he wants is for his family to live together in Nectarville! Will Berl get his wish? Shannon's works also include short fiction and poetry, garnering numerous awards for her writing.
