Known as the “mother of climate security,” Sherri Goodman has been a leader in environmental, energy, and climate security since she served as the first deputy undersecretary of defense (environmental security). Today, she is secretary general of the International Military Council on Climate and Security and a senior fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. She is also the founder and former executive director of the CNA Military Advisory Board and is the founding board chair of the Council on Strategic Risks, which includes the Center for Climate and Security. Sherri is credited with educating a generation of military and government officials about the nexus between climate change and national security, using her famous coinage, “threat multiplier,’ to fundamentally reshape this field. Sherri has appeared in several films about climate change, including The Age of Consequences, Journey to Planet Earth, Carbon Nation and From Paris to Pittsburgh.
