Throughout her life, Ms. Carter has faced the daily challenges of living with diabetes, a battle that began when she was just 18 years old. Despite these obstacles, she has persevered and achieved significant milestones. Starting with her education, Shmel successfully graduated from North Mecklenburg Senior High School in Huntersville, NC, and later pursued her studies at Shaw University in Raleigh, NC. As a dedicated mother, Shmel cherishes her three children with all her heart, finding immense joy in the role of a loving parent. She also shares a close bond with her five siblings, forming a strong support system within her family. Writing has always been a passion for Shmel, a talent she discovered at the tender age of twelve. Fuelled by her love for the written word, she has been honing her craft ever since. Determined to make her mark in the literary world, Shmel is diligently working her way to the top, striving for success and recognition.
