Sky Nite is a writer, developer, designer, and educator who has worked full-time in the XR industry since 2014. His first book, Virtual Reality Insider, sold over 9000 copies and provided an early look at what was possible with VR. In his two years working at UploadVR, Sky built and taught two 8-10 week VR development bootcamps, both of which saw 100% industry placement within a year of students finishing the programs. Some of his students received grants from Oculus for projects built during the course, and built VR tools in conjunction with NASA engineers. He also partnered with Udacity to build 1/4th of their VR Nanodegree, and taught over 200 students at weekend VR development courses that he designed. After leaving UploadVR, Sky developed and released two VR games on Steam and the Oculus Store (Top Secret and Meme Dragons). He then wrote a sci-fi novel imagining what XR education would look like in 100 years on a spaceship destined for alien first-contact. Coming back to development with renewed vigor, Sky created an open-source VR Dungeons and Dragons app called RoleplayU. Building on the multiplayer technology from that project, he developed a VR education experiment where users learned 38 bias and fallacy concepts through an interactive memory palace, either alone or with peers. In between these highlights Sky developed numerous other VR and AR prototypes. Since early 2019, Sky has developed several enterprise VR apps for a variety of clients in industries such as training, retail, and health. His company Modu XR (moduxr.com) offers enterprise development and consulting for VR and AR.
