Vijay Balan is a rocket-scientist turned storyteller; his career includes work on the Space Shuttle engines. He also worked globally in the marketing of technology where he honed his ability to make arcane concepts understood through the deft use of the written and spoken word. An avid history buff, he enjoys weaving insights and nuances from his wide travels and readings into his writing. Vijay believes that an evocative style is necessary to transport and immerse the reader into the midst of events happening at another time and place. He also firmly believes that the story is more important than the writer, and as such eschews overly complicated prose that can come in the way of storytelling. Vijay holds degrees in engineering from the University of Illinois and an MBA from The Wharton School. The Swaraj Spy is the result of six and a half years of research, writing and travels to many parts of the globe.
