William Van Winkle started publishing poetry and short fiction straight out of high school. Seven years later, William realized that publishing computing articles yielded more paychecks and so became a full-time freelancer for the likes of PC Magazine, CPU, PC World, Tom's Hardware, and many top-tier computing companies. Millions of non-fiction words and one bald spot later, William remembered what he wanted to be when he grew up. He now tries to balance in his day work and fiction pursuits. He lives in Hillsboro, Oregon, with his wife, kids, and a curiously small Great Dane.
