Emma Hawke describes herself as: 1) an insatiable reader, and 2) a woman of untameable tresses. Ms. Hawke is particularly enamored of Classic Brit Lit. Having spent years proclaiming her love for erudite but dry 19th century literature, she finally ended that romance a few years ago. Tearfully, she confronted the 19th century, explaining that, although she adored the storytelling, she was always left in the lurch when it came down to witty bodice heaving. Recognizing the truth in her words, the 19th century agreed to part, although not without some last, mournful, weighted looks. In an embarrassing last ditch attempt to win her back, the 19th century shamefacedly offered her some underground Victoriana. Her curiosity was piqued, but it was simply not substantial enough to sustain their relationship. Their break-up was quite awkward at first, particularly whenever they ran into each other in Haworth, but they have now managed to work out some semblance of a friendship, and even occasionally exchange gardening tips. Emma Hawke has since moved on with her life, and is now living openly and ardently with her true amour, the works of the long 18th century. However naughty her literary needs, she has always remained a loyal Austenite, with a particular love for Jane's wild and wicked early writing.
