When offered a retirement incentive too good to pass up, I ended my professional career as the reading/writing coordinator for the Department of Special Education in a prominent Long Island school district. But I had loved my work and worried about what i would do to fill my days ahead with equal fulfillment. And then I began to write my first full length book, SEX, LIES AND COSMETIC SURGERY, blending cutting edge research with refreshingly candid stories from over 100 women into the ways cosmetic surgery impacted their lives. My second beauty book, TICK TOCK STOP THE CLOCK ~ GETTING PRETTY ON YOUR LUNCH HOUR, contains eleven chapters, each written by a respected professional in their field, including topics as Cosmetic Dermatology, Minimally Invasive Surgeries, Cosmetology, Skin Care . . . . You can learn more about each of these beauty books on my Author Page. While wondering what next, in 2011 I had another brainstorm. Tales2Inspire was just a kernel of an idea back then, an ‘Authors Helping Authors’ project/contest all in one, to help promote talented writers while pursuing my passion for fascinating human interest stories. Through some wonderful PR help from Dan Poynter, word of Tales2Inspire quickly spread, and I began to receive story submissions from across the globe. Each year I choose a different theme for the contest and publish those winning stories with a cover emblazoned with a gemstone whose symbolic meaning reflects the theme of all its stories: Beyond Coincidence - (The Emerald Collection), Personal Awakenings - (The Topaz Collection), Gifts of Compassion - (The Ruby Collection), Turning the Page, (The Jade Collection) . . . And then, on alternate years I publish a double header Diamond Collection book, which combines all the stories from the two newest jewel collection books into one larger vedition. So far I have submitted four of those Diamond Collection books to highly respected writing contests and am proud to say that each of the Diamond Collection books has received one of their prestigious literary awards. These double books remain the best bang-for-the-buck value. And speaking of value, for those interested in purchasing multiple copies of Tales2Inspire books (mix or match titles), you can do so from my website. While Tales2Inspire remains one of my passions, I recently initiated a ghostwriting service, with two of my first clients being young adults who wanted to preserve memories of their early years. I have since ghostwritten memoirs for more senior adults as well, and even one about a favorite pet.
