Richard Authier Lee grew up in the United States, in Hanover, New Hampshire, in a family where reading was a relaxation and storytelling a revered skill. While in school, he worked part-time in a movie theater, managed by his grandfather, where he developed a love for film. A love of reading and movies is evident in his writing, which always begins with a keen sense of place and draws from a belief in the dignity of every day people. He also has a background in broadcasting, journalism, media relations and nonprofit management. He lives in Holyoke, Massachusetts with his wife Norma and their beagle, Scout, who is blithely unaware that he is a dog.
