Histoire
It is a tale of ghosts, of madness, of revenge - of old alliances giving way to new intrigues. Denmark is changing, shaking off its medieval past. War with Norway is on the horizon. And Hamlet - son of the old king, nephew of the new - becomes increasingly entangled in a web of deception - and murder. Beautifully performed by actor Richard Armitage ("Thorin Oakenshield" in the Hobbit films), Hamlet, Prince of Denmark takes Shakespeare’s original into unexpected realms, reinventing a story we thought we knew.

Gripping from beginning to end!

Often I will "search" in audible not by author or subject, but by narrator. Richard Armitage is a master! I have listened to multiple and varied books narrated by this fine actor; ever since listening to Mr. Armitage read Charles Dickens' David Copperfield. It has led me to books that I would otherwise not have selected, including this rendition of Hamlet. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this - I was gripped and on the "edge of my seat" throughout - more so than many Netflix series I have watched recently! Highly recommended.
Mr. Armitage - please continue narrating books for a long time! You have brought me so much listening pleasure!

But when his father is assassinated by the KGB for defying the state, Alexander and his mother will have to escape Russia if they hope to survive. At the docks, they have an irreversible choice: board a container ship bound for America or one bound for Great Britain. Alexander leaves the choice to a toss of a coin....

Great performance by Richard Armitage

The only think they salvaged this audio book for me was the performance by Richard Armitage. Brilliant as usual.
Unfortunately the story is very average. Silly and not my cup of tea.

In reality, Hubert's days are all the same, dragging on without him seeing a single soul. Lovely message
Évalué le: 2022-11-06
I did enjoy listening to this book. The themes dramatized are topical as well as universal and the messages gleaned are quite uplifting.
My only small complaint was not really liking the narrator’s Jamaican accent (far too heavy) and the female voices (which I assume is not easy). As a result, I think I would have enjoyed the book more if I had read it rather than listened to it.

....just could.t get through it......

I have listened to almost all the episodes of "Philosophize This" on Spotify and absolutely loved the podcasts. Interesting, thought provoking, educational....a real pleasure from beginning to end. So in order to continue learning more about philosophy, I decided to buy this Great Courses on Philosophy. OMG....this is such a snore! I made many attempts to get through this but finally gave up half way through. It is boring, often incomprehensible, and a struggle from beginning to end. The author/narrator seems more interested in trying to impress with his obscure comments than trying to actually engage us. Do yourself a favour, if you're interested in philosophy, and listen to the 150-odd podcasts of Philosophize this instead.

Between his work on the 2014 Audible Audiobook of the Year, Hamlet, Prince of Denmark: A Novel, and his performance of Classic Love Poems, narrator Richard Armitage ( The Hobbit, Hannibal) has quickly become a listener favorite. Now, in this defining performance of Charles Dickens' classic David Copperfield, Armitage lends his unique voice and interpretation, truly inhabiting each character and bringing real energy to the life of one of Dickens' most famous characters.

Richard Armitage is brilliant!
Évalué le: 2021-08-19
I thoroughly enjoyed this book.! A masterpiece by Charles Dickens - this novel being a commentary on social issues, relationships and human nature. The writing is breathtakingly beautiful! The real surprise, though, was listening to Richard Armitage narrate the story. WOW! He was brilliant, bringing all the characters to life and imbuing them with such personality! . Incredible! Amazing!
