Histoire
Do you know that the ancient Egyptians believed that people were made out of clay by their river god? For eons, the wisdom cultivated by the Egyptian people has been extolled time and time again. These timeless myths are fountains of insight and, many would argue, beacons of light that can shatter the darkness of ignorance. For those of you that are ready and willing to receive these ancient messages, your time has come. All you need to do is start listening. Then the wisdom of Thoth will begin to stir inside you.

It is badly written and the myths are wrong. I only got to chapter 3 before I gave up

Histoire
In Magic's Pawn, an ancient age in the history of Valdemar comes to life - an age when the kingdom was ravaged by the ungoverned fury of bandit warlords, ferocious ice dragons, and the wild magic of wizards. A new addition to Lackey's Valdemar kingdom - and her most powerful series to date!

Good overall but performance is lacking
Évalué le: 2020-10-08
Overall the story is good, but the pronunciation of names is strange to me, and also there are some very strange mistakes where the narrator will misspeak or use the wrong pronunciation of words, such as "bow" the action instead of "bow" the object, and he sometimes also uses strange pauses that break up or run on the sentences strangely. However, the character performances are mostly good, especially Andrel and Tylendel.
This performance needed a director to catch all the mistakes.

Histoire
In 2010, the words “earthquake swarm” entered the lexicon in Oklahoma. That same year, a trove of Michael Jackson memorabilia—including his iconic crystal-encrusted white glove—was sold at auction for over $1 million to a guy who was, officially, just the lowly forestry minister of the tiny nation of Equatorial Guinea. And in 2014, Ukrainian revolutionaries raided the palace of their ousted president and found a zoo of peacocks, gilded toilets, and a floating restaurant modeled after a Spanish galleon.

A Must Read
Évalué le: 2019-10-19
This book is a telling, stringently researched dive into oil, gas and government. Excellently presented by the author, it is a compelling story of corruption and money, and the unholy marriage between them that has affected everyone on our world.

Histoire
Finally, the knight Sparhawk had come to possess Bhelliom, legendary jewel of magic that alone could save Queen Ehlana from the deadly poison that had felled her father. Sparhawk and Sephrenia, ageless instructor in Styric magics, made haste to free Ehlana from the crystalline cocoon that had preserved her life while they desperately sought a cure.

Good but with odd sound choices
Évalué le: 2019-03-24
I enjoyed the story and the narration was good, if not outstanding. There were also some weird breaks where the audible sting played and music was added for no particular reason.

Histoire
Eating is an indispensable human activity. As a result, whether we realize it or not, the drive to obtain food has been a major catalyst across all of history, from prehistoric times to the present. Epicure Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin said it best: "Gastronomy governs the whole life of man."

Enthusiastic and informative
Évalué le: 2018-09-13
If you love cultural history, this is the book for you. Through the lens of food, you get a deep and informative look at the history and culture of peoples around the world from ancient times to the modern. Myths are debunked and surprising facts are uncovered. The narrator's presentation brings it all to life without sacrificing any of the information nor making the lectures dry and unpalatable. One of the best I've listened to from the Great Courses series.
