Histoire
London, 1861: Ten-year-old Nell belongs to a crew of mudlarks who work a stretch of the Thames along the Ratcliffe Highway. An orphan since her mother died four years past, leaving Nell with only broken dreams and a pair of satin slippers in her possession, she spends her days dredging up coals, copper and pieces of iron spilled by the river barges – searching for treasure in the mud in order to appease her master, Benjamin Murdstone. But one day, Nell discovers a body on the shore. It’s not the first corpse she’s encountered, but by far the strangest.

I absolutely loved this stunningly beautiful book that makes us question the very nature of man and our journey through the labyrinth of life. Beautifully narrated by Justin Avoth. I can't wait to dive into another book by Robert Dinsdale.

I understand that this series came about because of a dare! The author had said "that a good writer can take any concept and make it great!" ... So someone challenged him to write about Pokémon and the Roman legion! I'd say he proved his point and I got one of my favourite series ever. I also can't say enough about Kate Reading and her narration ... she has so many distinct voices and cadences .. love her work.

Boring!
Évalué le: 2021-02-16
l rarely leave a bad review but I'm unsure of the point of this story other then the author trying to impress us with his knowledge of psychology, art and literature. Nothing really happens and most of the characters are unlikable and pretentious. It also contains some of the most boring conversations I've ever come across in a book.
I listen and read to a wide variety of genres but this was not an enjoyable listen for me.

Histoire
In the world of Warbreaker, each person is born endowed with the power of one Breath―which can be sold and collected by others, then used to Awaken objects and even corpses to do their bidding. A few individuals who die in glory return as gods, with the power of thousands of Breath, but no memory of their mortal lives―and are enthroned in the Court of Gods in Hallandren’s capital. To Vivenna and Siri, princesses of Idris, the abuse of Breath and the claim of the Returned to be gods are repugnant blasphemy.

First time with this narrator. She did a fantastic job from beginning to end, and Sanderson puts out some of the best fantasy out there!

Histoire
The Brontës were a nineteenth-century literary family, born in the village of Thornton and later associated with the village of Haworth in the West Riding of Yorkshire, England. The sisters, Charlotte (1816–1855), Emily (1818–1848), and Anne (1820–1849), are well known as poets and novelists. Like many contemporary female writers, they originally published their poems and novels under male pseudonyms: Currer, Ellis, and Acton Bell. Their stories immediately attracted attention for their passion and originality.
