Histoire
In The Four Agreements, a New York Times best seller for over seven years, don Miguel Ruiz revealed how the process of our education, or “domestication,” can make us forget the wisdom we were born with. Throughout our lives, we make many agreements that go against ourselves and create needless suffering.

It seems like any other day. You wake up, drink a cup of coffee, and head out. But today, when you open your front door, waiting for you is a small wooden box. The contents of this mysterious box tells you the exact number of years you will live. From suburban doorsteps to desert tents, every person on every continent receives the same box. In an instant, the world is thrust into a collective frenzy. Where did these boxes come from? What do they mean? Is there truth to what they promise?

A very unique story

I really enjoyed this book. I actually loved the slow and steady tone of the narrator. The story made me think of the “what ifs”. What if this happened to us?What if we knew our lifespan? What would we change about our lives? Would we choose to really live or just exist until our lives came to an end?

This is a great story! It’s not often that I’m surprised by the ending but this one nailed it! The narrator is brilliant, making each character recognizable. I highly recommend this book!!

Histoire
There are millions of stories in the city - some magical, some tragic, others terror-filled or triumphant. Jonah Kirk’s story is all of those things as he draws listeners into his life in the city as a young boy, introducing his indomitable grandfather, also a "piano man"; his single mother, a struggling singer; and the heroes, villains, and everyday saints and sinners who make up the fabric of the metropolis in which they live - and who will change the course of Jonah’s life forever. Welcome to The City, a place of evergreen dreams where enchantment and malice entwine.

Another great tale by Dean Koontz
Évalué le: 2023-05-20
I am a huge fan of this author and was surprised at how different this story was. I loved the way it was presented. Mainly from the voice and innocence of a child. I really enjoyed the minute details that fleshed out the characters and the whispers of the supernatural throughout. This is truly a great story.

I have read all of the 18 books in this series and have yet to be disappointed. The writing is phenomenal, the characters all well rounded out with new insights in each book. Of the thousands of books I have read I can honestly say that these are my favourites. The audio versions bring new life into the story. Bravo!

There, overcome with memories of the man she adored and consumed by a history she never knew, she is pulled into another time. The Ireland of 1921, teetering on the edge of war, is a dangerous place in which to awaken. But there Anne finds herself, hurt, disoriented, and under the care of Dr. Thomas Smith, guardian to a young boy who is oddly familiar.

Histoire
It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

Reading/listening to this book was a marvellous experience. The author’s use of words is poetic. Words came alive and were characters in their own right. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good story and can appreciate the brilliance of a talented writer.

So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

One of the most extraordinary stories I have ever read
Évalué le: 2018-11-15
I have read hundred of books in my lifetime and would rank this one as one of my all time favourites. It is so beautifully written that I would rank it with poetry. The characters and locale were brought to life. I didn't want the book to end but longed for answers. This is one of those rare stories that came to a satisfying conclusion and allowi the reader to know it was complete. I highly recommend it to absolutely everyone.
