Nicola Walker’s excellent performance
Évalué le: 2024-11-18
I found this audio rather ‘normal’ as far as plot goes. If it weren’t for Nicola Walker’s excellent abilities to change voices and accents, I wouldn’t have listened to it until about a quarter of the way through. I did return it because I found myself putting aside and just not getting enthusiastic enough to pick it back up.

Very disappointing
Évalué le: 2024-11-01
After ‘Geneva’ this book was quite a disappointment. There were so many characters jumping in and out over a thirty-year span. This got boring very quickly and got to be too much to listen to any further. I’d already figured out the final plot by Chapter 20. Armitage’s previous novel was more thrilling and fast-paced.

A “Brilliant” plot

I wasn’t thrilled with the narrator’s female voices. They approached the ridiculous and put me off every time I had to listen to them.

Horrible narration
Évalué le: 2024-06-03
I nearly returned this audible after the long and very loud tirade at the beginning but decided to listen a bit further. Poor idea. The narrator’s voice was beyond annoying and portrayed no difference whether the characters were male or female or good or evil.
I normally enjoy Dale Brown’s books but this narration was a disaster.

Another
Évalué le: 2024-05-21
This was another very good story by C J Archer. The plot was exciting weaving in and out of various storylines. The only complaint I have is the bad American hillbilly accent of Willy. The others are well done but hers is so whinny and shrill that I’d like to see it toned down.

Histoire
A cold night, in the middle of nowhere, in a vast county in New Mexico, a lone patrolwoman comes across a pair of dead cops sitting in their cruiser. And who does she find standing over their corpses? A giant, lone drifter with one stark trait; he is menacing like a nightmare. His name? Jack Widow. To find the real killer, she'll have to partner with Widow. What seems like an ambush and execution might turn out to be something conspiratorial and far more sinister.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all 16 of the Jack Widow series. All different themes and locations with lots of action and well thought out storylines made this series very good listening. I hope there will be more of Widow’s adventures.

Histoire
Jenna’s parents had finally given in, and there she was, at a New York club with her best friends, watching the legendary band Avenue A, carrying her demo in hopes of slipping it to the guitarist, Jake Kincade. Then, from the stage, Jake catches her eye, and smiles. It’s the best night of her life. It’s the last night of her life. Minutes later, Jake’s in the alley getting some fresh air, and the girl from the dance floor comes stumbling out, sick and confused and deathly pale. He tries to help, but it’s no use. He doesn’t know that someone in the crowd has jabbed her with a needle.

The plot.
Évalué le: 2024-01-30
The plot line was one of the best of the ‘Death’ series. It held my interest and character development was superbly thought out.
I still have concerns about the narrator although she was a bit better for this novel, especially when voicing Dallas and Peabody. There were still moments where Ericksen’s voice was too shrill and forceful when unnecessary. A lower cadence can be as menacing and even more threatening than a high shrill voice.
I think I’ll stick to reading future books in the Dallas stories.

Same story, different setting
Évalué le: 2023-10-22
There were some good side characters offered in this novel but I was irritated by how childish the male protagonist could be. For a supposed first class cop he let his emotions get the best of him instead of using any mental prowess. The most annoying element of this audible was the narrator. I keep forgetting how Scott Brick is too often over-exuberant in his narration. It would be better for the novels he narrates if he talked like a normal person instead of a deranged character.
Disappointing.

A Great Surprise
Évalué le: 2023-10-16
I’ve been a fan of Nora Roberts novels for many years. I loved her In Death series, both books and audibles. But this 3-part series tops them all. I’ve never been much of a fan of fantasy novels but this series is wonderful, full of imagination and brilliantly narrated. Well done, Ms. Roberts!

Wonderful
Évalué le: 2023-10-07
I’m glad I discovered this series after all 3 instalments had been written because it would have been had to wait for the next. I’m usually not a fan of the fantastical but I enjoy Nora Roberts so I thought I’d give this a chance. I was enthralled from the beginning and found the narrator wonderful with her various voices and accents.
