Histoire
As a botanist and professor of plant ecology, Robin Wall Kimmerer has spent a career learning how to ask questions of nature using the tools of science. As a Potawatomi woman, she learned from elders, family, and history that the Potawatomi, as well as a majority of other cultures indigenous to this land, consider plants and animals to be our oldest teachers.

Beauty, poetry, science, nature, spirituality. A look at mother, earth, humanity, nature.
I have never read anything like this, but I hope to find more in my future.
I HIGHLY recommend listening to the audiobook for this one!

You just boarded a flight to New York. There are one hundred and forty-three other passengers onboard. What you don’t know is that thirty minutes before the flight your pilot’s family was kidnapped. For his family to live, everyone on your plane must die. The only way the family will survive is if the pilot follows his orders and crashes the plane. Enjoy the flight.

Problematic, Offensive and Mind-Numbing
Évalué le: 2021-09-22
I now know why the author was turned down so many times for this book. The prologue is a false promise… from there on, the story devolves into a dated, awful premise of villainizing the “other” despite her attempts to reassure the reader that that is exactly what she is NOT doing. I thought we moved past this tired, offensive trope back in the 90s, so I was hopeful that (based on the hype around this book) the story would redeem itself. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t!
