Perfect pairing of author and narrator
I have listened to almost all of Karin Slaughter’s books now and continue to be captivated by each of the stories and Kathleen Early’s masterful narration.

Kathleen Early is phenomenal again.
Kathleen Earlys performance is flawless yet again, making it easy to listen to even the painfully cheesy parts of this novel.
I enjoyed the story but the characters are becoming a bit repetitive. Sarah is a perfect example of someone who thinks they are a lot smarter than they actually are. Jeffrey is as toxic and unlikeable as ever. And wtf Lena, a neo-nazi? C'mon.
Not her best work, but a solid instalment for the Grant series.

Love the Grant Series

So sick of Lena
Lena is such an absurd character and every scene involving her is so drawn out and ridiculous. Gets annoying

Well written, but offensive & hate Jeffery
I got into Katherine Slaughter later on, from around 2016 onward and going back to her older stuff is starting to ruin her a bit for me. Although her debut novel Blind Sided aged pretty well, the second and third books in the series (this is the third) didn't. I know all of these books are copaganda but like, she doesn't have to lean so hard into it - i need enough suspension to forget that I am listening to a narrative about state sanctioned murders. This book in particular in really sexist (a lot of anti abortion stuff too, same in book two) and homophobic. It's also trite in its homophobia, and the sexism extends to Jeffery's character a lot and his relationship to Sarah. Jeffery is actually the absolute worst and not someone to route for whatsoever. The book is well written - girl can write - but it just highlights how performative her later books are, and that's a drag.
