Juan Martinez
À propos de cet audio
Juan Martinez, the fiery prosecutor who convicted notorious murderer Jodi Arias for the disturbing killing of Travis Alexander, speaks for the first time about the shocking investigation and sensational trial that captivated the nation.
Through two trials, America watched with bated breath as Juan Martinez fought relentlessly to convict Jodi Arias of Murder One for viciously stabbing her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander to death. What emerged was a story wrought with sex, manipulation, and deceit that stunned the public at every turn. Arias, always playing the wronged and innocent woman, changed her story continually as her bizarre behavior surrounding the crime and its aftermath came to light. Unwavering, Arias and her defense team continued to play off the salacious details of the case, until she was finally found guilty and - controversially - sentenced to life behind bars.
Now, speaking openly for the first time, prosecutor Juan Martinez will unearth new details from the investigation that were never revealed at trial, exploring key facts from the case and the pieces of evidence he chose to keep close to the vest. Throughout the trials, his bullish and unfaltering prosecution strategy was both commended and criticized, and in his book, Martinez will illuminate the unique tactics he utilized in this case and how they lead to a successful conviction, and - for the first time - discuss how he felt losing the death penalty sentence he’d pursued for years.
Going beyond the news reports, Martinez will explore the truth behind the multiple facades of Jodi Arias. Sparring with her from across the stand, Martinez came to know Arias like no one else could, dissecting what it took for a seemingly normal girl to become a deluded, cunning, and unrepentant murderer.
With new stories from behind the scenes of the trial and Martinez’s own take on his defendant, the book takes you inside the mind of Jodi Arias like never before and is the definitive account of the case that shocked America.

It was the trial that stunned America, the verdict that shocked us all. On July 5, 2011, nearly three years after her initial arrest, Casey Anthony walked away, virtually scot-free, from one of the most sensational murder trials of all time. She'd been accused of killing her daughter, Caylee, but the trial only left behind more questions: Was she actually innocent? What really happened to Caylee? Was this what justice really looked like?

BRILLIANT! 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A must listen/read!
If you have even a remote interest in the Jodi Arias case...the physcopath and true wild card that poor Travis Alexander crossed paths with...get this! Sadly, he didn't stand a chance with her calculated behaviour. I LOVE ANY BOOKS WRITTEN ABOUT THE ACTUAL TRIALS...BUT THIS WAS A FANTASTICALLY WRITTEN AND PERFECTLY CONVEYED by Juan Martinez, the strong prosecutor on the case and the man responsible for showing and proving who the REAL Jodi Arias is and ultimately putting her where she belongs! Juan did a magnificent job. Applause to him for showing her up for the MONSTER SHE IS!!! Definately worth the read. A top fav of mine and I've been studying, researching and reading true crime for 30 plus years!

Conviction: Putting Jodi Arias Behind Bars
Working from home during the pandemic put me into a deep dive listening to several court cases over podcast, and I continued to return to the Arias case as all the court proceedings are posted to YouTube and it has hours and hours of testimony. To say this case is bizarre is an understatement and I can't imagine the prosecution's job to pull together all the details to make a coherent case -- and yet Juan Martinez did it! Putting aside whatever can be said of him outside the courtroom or since the trial, his competence, composure, professionalism, and determination to prosecute Arias is something to behold. He's like a long distance runner; he's focused, takes his time, zooms in on detail, and is like a bloodhound to hammer down a point.
This book brings to life the events surrounding the murder of Travis Alexander right from the start as Martinez attended the crime scene. I appreciated his assessments and how he went about forming the case. He smelled Arias as the rat she is from the very beginning. Martinez was exhaustive in the best possible way to ensure no stone was unturned in discovering the truth about what Arias planned. In the book he goes on to describe how he adjusted his approach to Arias given her lies, manipulations and aim to control. He took a heavy hand deliberately and chose to work almost completely alone to maintain integrity over every aspect of the case. He called quality witnesses and blew it out of the park with the gas can, gas receipts "gotcha" moment. I liked his serious, no nonsense demeanor and it carries through the book. He never let up once. I can forgive him for the few humble-brag, self-aggrandizing moments he put in the book as he did his job and Arias is in jail.
Conviction is a great read, great listen, and provides quite a bit of info not reported in the media.

The worst
The worst possible accused, and the worst display of calculated courtroom aggression by a lawyer.
