Character-Driven Follow-Up
This second entry in the foundational 'Dark Elf' sub-trilogy of the 'Legend of Drizzt' Chronicles builds on R.A. Salvatore's imaginative introduction to a Chaotic Good *Drow* (yes, you read that right).
This installment continues the development of a brilliant character with 'DM Guide'-worthy AD&D action.. but expresses a philosophical "find-where-you-belong" theme throughout. The book has a surprising degree of pathos for a Fantasy Adventure.
Salvatore forgoes some action in the name of character development (avoiding fights to demonstrate peacefulness, for example) - and the book features some genuinely childish/silly encounters - but introduces intriguing recurrent characters like Belwar Dissengulp the Svirfneblin and Jarlaxle the mercenary Drow.
Victor Bevine's narration is similarly excellent with some limitations: displaying peerless diction, timbre, cadence, and tone.. but some subpar voice-acting choices (his female Drow Matriarch interpretations are occasionally groanworthy).
In toto, the audiobook has a different feel from Salvatore's usual DnD rollercoaster-ride offerings. It's still an enjoyable twist on the genre, however.. worthy of 8 stars out of 10. Spend the Credit.

3rd place of the dark elf trilogy
It was a very good book but I think homeland and sojourn are both much better. The plot felt like no real progress was being made.
