À propos de cet audio
Book 1: Albion Lost:
For centuries, the Daegon waited. They plotted. And now they are ready to strike.
The core worlds of settled space enjoy a tenuous peace, unaware and ill prepared for the threat building beyond the furthest reaches of humanity. The star kingdom of Albion stands as a shining light of justice and mercy in a harsh galaxy, and they will be the first to suffer the Daegon's fury.
Defying his low born status, and despite his self-doubt, Commodore Thomas Gage has risen through the ranks by sheer grit and determination, defending Albion from brutal pirate clans. And when the onslaught comes, Gage and his fleet may be Albion's last hope for freedom.
Book 2: The Long March:
Albion burns beneath Daegon rule.
Commodore Thomas Gage and his fleet, safeguarding the last of the Albion Royal Family, are on the run. Hunting them, a ruthless Daegon commander will stop at nothing to crush Albion's only remaining free force.
To find sanctuary beyond their enemy's reach, the battle-damaged fleet must cut through a hostile and dangerous region of space known as the Kigeli Nebula. But to secure passage, Gage must strike a deal with an old enemy who wants nothing more than to fulfill a vendetta and see the commodore dead.
Facing threats ahead, behind and from within, Gage must lead his fleet down the long march to freedom.
Exiled Fleet is a new military science-fiction series for fans of Honor Harrington, Earth Alone, and Old Man's War from the author of the best-selling Ember War Saga.

not bad
Not bad, characters were a little one-dimensional but it's a solid star fighter drama. Mark Boyett is great as usual.

Very enjoyable
This is a very enjoyable book even if it is not overly original (basically a beat for beat retelling of Battlestar Gallactica). Would definitely recommend.

It’s a fun listen
It’s a fun story but there’s a lot of characters who could have used more character development. It’s free and you should give it a listen

Hollywood Clichéd - But Enjoyable
The Richard Fox offerings in this Publisher's Pack are obviously written with screenplay stereotypes in mind - complete with central-casting diversity characters (black, female, foreign-accented, etc) and predictable telegraphed dialogue - but the cinematic result is great for the audiobook format. Do not expect originality if you download these books.. but set aside reservations, visualize the action, and enjoy the movie-like entertainment:
• Book One - 'Albion Lost' - sets the table for what readers/listeners can expect from the 'Exiled Fleet' series: a desperate fight after the invasion of the galaxy by a bloodthirsty, agressive humanoid species know as the 'Daegon'. Mech-armored bodyguards flee the stricken home planet of 'Albion' with the surviving Royal Prince (5-year-old 'Aiden'); a pair of surviving Air Force pilots manage a harrowing escape with their badly-needed 'Typhoon' Fighters; and the 11th Fleet - last of the Royal Navy (spared from destruction by being deployed for a humanitarian mission on a frontier world at the time of the attack) - strives to keep humanity free & alive. Fox provides a nice mix of tactically-impressive setpiece battles, pulsepounding dogfights, and well-scripted firefights/hand-to-hand combat on the ground.
• ''The Long March' (starting at Chapter 25) follows the pursuit of the Albion Prince and his protectors on the flagship 'Orion' by Daegon warrior 'Tyberian'. Fox crafts a pleasantly captivating adventure involving space pirates, a shapeshifting assassin, one-on-one combats, AI-informed mech armor, and several pitched battles between fleets.
[Be aware if you're listening with kids: Fox ensures an R-rating for this installment with some uncomfortable portrayals of torture]
The narration from Mark Boyett is straight-up brilliant. His diction, pacing, timbre, cadence, and tone are genuinely praiseworthy, but his committment to voice-acting is actually peerless. Boyett affects world-specific accents ('Geneva' = German-tinged; 'Albion' = Cockney; 'Siam' = Asian; etc.) - none of which are cartoonish or over-the-top. Podium Audio cast this project wonderfully.
The blockbuster action movie conventions in these books are occasionally overwhelming - don't expect thought-provoking "hard" Science Fiction if you try this 8/10 star Publisher's Pack - but the moderately silly rollercoaster-ride stories would be great for a cross-country driver or someone working a couple of boring night shifts and looking for an enjoyable straight-up distraction. I am happy that the books were made available as part of the 'Plus' initiative, because they would rate a Credit for listeners hoping for some mindless fun.
