À propos de cet audio
A thirteen-year-old Welsh boy enters a man’s world in the mining pits. . . . An American law student rejected in love finds a surprising new career in Woodrow Wilson’s White House. . . . A housekeeper for the aristocratic Fitzherberts takes a fateful step above her station, while Lady Maud Fitzherbert herself crosses deep into forbidden territory when she falls in love with a German spy. . . . And two orphaned Russian brothers embark on radically different paths when their plan to emigrate to America falls afoul of war, conscription, and revolution.
From the dirt and danger of a coal mine to the glittering chandeliers of a palace, from the corridors of power to the bedrooms of the mighty, Fall of Giants takes us into the inextricably entangled fates of five families—and into a century that we thought we knew, but that now will never seem the same again. . . .

Histoire225
This lush novel, set in 1766 England and America, evokes an era ripe with riot and revolution, from the teeming streets of London to the sprawling grounds of a Virginia plantation. Mack McAsh burns with the desire to escape his life of slavery in Scottish coal mines while Lizzie Hallim is desperate to shed a life of sheltered subjugation to her spineless husband. United in America, their only chance for freedom lies beyond the Western frontier - if they're brave enough to take it.

Ce que les critiques en disent
"Follett entwines fiction and factual events well. . . . This is a dark novel, motivated by an unsparing view of human nature and a clear-eyed scrutiny of an ideal peace. It is not the least of Follett's feats that the reader finishes this near thousand-page book intrigued and wanting more." —Chicago Sun-Times
"A good read. . . . It's a book that will suck you in, consume you for days or weeks . . . then let you out the other side both entertained and educated. That's quite the feat." —USA Today
"Fall of Giants is a book for you to savor, one in which you can lose yourself for hours on end. It is a big book that tells a big story, but it is one you will not want to end." —The Huffington Post
"Fascinating, in a big way." —St. Louis Post-Dispatch
"A suspenseful epic." —The Seattle Times
"Tantalizing." —Newsday
"Follett conjures the winds of war." —The Washington Post
"Grand in scope, scale, and story." —The Associated Press

Mr. Stevens is a talented actor, and he beautifully applied his skills to bringing Fall of Giants into life in an unforgettable manner. His ability to give unique voices and accents to a plethora of characters, while conveying the emotions and messages intended by the author is unmatched in the industry.
This is such a well-written work of literature. I cannot imagine the time and effort that has gone into the careful research of the historical facts, let alone the multifaceted application of the said facts into the engaging, multi-POV plot.
The readers truly read about people from all walks of life! From the working class all the way through to aristocracy and political leaders, the story portrays the impact of the first World War on the lives of different people in a tangible way.
I would highly recommend this book to all who appreciate reading about history, and to our younger generation whom may gain a new appreciation for the values of hard work, uniting with one another, learning our rights, and speaking up against injustices from an informed place.
Best Narration Ever!
