À propos de cet audio
An instant New York Times best seller
From the New York Times best-selling author of The Banker's Wife, worlds collide when an FBI agent investigates a string of grisly murders on Long Island that raises the impossible question: What happens when the primary suspect is your father?
FBI Agent Nell Flynn hasn't been home in 10 years. Nell and her father, Homicide Detective Martin Flynn, have never had much of a relationship. And Suffolk County will always be awash in memories of her mother, Marisol, who was murdered when Nell was just seven.
When Martin Flynn dies in a motorcycle accident, Nell returns to the house she grew up in so that she can spread her father's ashes and close his estate. At the behest of her father's partner, Detective Lee Davis, Nell becomes involved in an investigation into the murders of two young women in Suffolk County. The further Nell digs, the more likely it seems to her that her father should be the prime suspect - and that his friends on the police force are covering his tracks. Plagued by doubts about her mother's murder - and her own role in exonerating her father in that case - Nell can't help but ask questions about who killed Ria Ruiz and Adriana Marques and why. But she may not like the answers she finds - not just about those she loves, but about herself.

East House is the oldest and least desirable dorm on campus, but it has a draw for lonely university freshman Aleeza Kassam: Jay Hoque, the hot and broody student who vanished from East House five months ago without a trace. It’s irresistible to an aspiring investigative journalist like Aleeza. But when she starts receiving texts from Jay, the mystery takes an unexpected turn. To put it mildly.

All drummer Vienna Taylor ever wanted was to make music. If that came with fame, she’d take it—as long as her best friend, guitarist Madison Pierce, was sharing the spotlight and singing lead. And with their new all-female pop rock band gaining traction, soon everyone would hear their songs… Except, on the way to an event, the Bittersweet’s van careened off an icy mountain road during a blizzard—leaving one member dead and another severely injured. In order to survive the frigid night, the rest took shelter in a nearby abandoned cabin.

Eccentric, reclusive Walter Rennert lies cold at the bottom of his stairs. At first glance the scene looks straightforward: a once-respected psychology professor done in by booze and a bad heart. But his daughter, Tatiana, insists that her father has been murdered, and she persuades Clay Edison to take a closer look at the grim facts of Rennert's life. What emerges is a history of scandal and violence and an experiment gone horribly wrong that ended in the brutal murder of a coed.

"[Nell] has a vulnerable, empathetic core that will pull readers in, and Alger has a feel for small-town dynamics.... The tension becomes nearly unbearable as Nell realizes she truly can't trust anyone. Readers can expect a few genuine surprises, and the light Alger shines on society's most vulnerable members is an important one. Melancholy and addictive." (Kirkus Reviews)
"[An] excellent crime novel...[Alger] captures the social dynamics of Suffolk's eastern extremes perfectly. The first-person narrative is appropriately terse - Nell delivers a thorough report - but it occasionally surprises with a gripping depth....Highly recommended." (Booklist, starred review)

It was ok.
I have listened to many many audible books. This one felt a little dull to me. It was more the narrator I think. Her emotions weren’t matching the storyline. When it gets ‘thrilling’ you imagine a bit of a breathless tone, but her tone was reading as though it wasn’t a big deal. I also didn’t feel like the story had many twists. I figured many of them out well before the end, so it fell flat for me.

This was a great read!
It was a cop/fbi murder mystery where the FMC is not sure if her deceased cop father was the one who committed the murder.
Had all the don't trust anyone vibes and I enjoyed how the author tied it all up in the end.
You get:
• Thriller/Suspense
• Cops/FBI
• Death Of A Parent
• Murder Case
• Who Did It?
• Don't Trust Anyone
• Family Secrets
I recommend this one! Available on ebook, hardcover, paperback, and audiobook.
