Out beyond the Outer Colonies lies the planet Hesiod, a gas giant surrounded by a vast asteroid belt. As the Covenant continues to glass the human-occupied planets near Hesiod, many of the survivors, aided by a stronghold of human insurrectionists, are fleeing to the asteroids for refuge. They have transformed the tumbling satellites into a tenuous yet ingenious settlement known as the Rubble - and have come face-to-face with a Covenant settlement of Kig-Yar...yet somehow survived. News of this unlikely treaty has spread to the warring factions.
Luckily for the UNSC, this uneasy alliance is in the path of the Spartan Gray Team, a three-person renegade squad whose simple task is to wreak havoc from behind enemy lines in any way they see fit. But the Prophets have also sent their very best - an ambitious and ruthless Elite whose quest for nobility and rank is matched only by his brutality....

distracting music
I believe the performance is quite good. I enjoy the story. I liked the addition of sound effects. The nice subtle hum of space craft etc. I found the music to be too sudden and too loud. It felt comical at times and undercut the action instead of supporting it.
overall enjoyed the book.

Great Story and Narrator
I enjoyed the narration of this novel. Using different voices makes it easier to follow along. I had no issue with the music that played throughout the novel and felt like it added to the intensity of the scenes. The narration of this book is significantly better than the next book “Envoy”.

Good Book, Weak Character Dialogue
The overall story was enjoyable, especially if you are keen to learn more about the lore within the Halo Expanded Universe. But, the book falls short on some noticable fronts, namely the dialogue between characters. There are certainly other Halo books that I would recommend over this.

Awesome Read
This was an awesome story paired with Mr. Davis' amazing voice acting. The story captivates and provides the reader with vivid ideas of what is happening.
My only critique is that the audio had a few points where it skipped out. this maybe an issue from when I downloaded the audio. luckily, the missing sections we're about a second or two long so it was easy to connect the points that were being conveyed.

Story and narration Is great
the music and ambient noise that comes in throughout the book gets lame fast. not to mention whole sentences and phrases missing and glitches to do something in post. I'm trying to listen to all the Halo books, so this was a part of the list, but overall, it's good

Worst Halo book so far
Been listening to the halo books in order of release. This is the worst by far. Difficult to get through, extremely boring. Yikes.
