À propos de cet audio
Stephen Fry brings the richness of these magical stories to life in the original British recordings, available for the first time in the United States and Canada.
Turning the envelope over, his hand trembling, Harry saw a purple wax seal bearing a coat of arms: a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake surrounding a large letter 'H'.
Treat your ears to a performance so rich and captivating you'll imagine yourself in the halls of Hogwarts. Wherever you listen, the unmistakable voice of Stephen Fry is guaranteed to guide you ever more deeply into this magical story and transport you to the heart of the adventure.
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!
Theme music composed by James Hannigan.
Having become classics of our time, the Harry Potter stories never fail to bring comfort and escapism. With their message of hope, belonging and the enduring power of truth and love, the story of the Boy Who Lived continues to delight generations of new listeners.

First timer with My. Fry.
I have listened to Jim Dale's version many times and love it. This was my first time listening to Stephen Fry. I really enjoyed it but Jim Dale has way more voices for the characters. should I keep going with Mr Fry?

Stephen Fry is amazing!
I’ve been waiting so long to listen to Stephen Fry’s version of HP. So incredible. And so nice to listen to the actual version and not the Americanized Jim Daie version. Love love love.

Finally!
I used to listen to these years ago and I've been trying to find them ever since, the other narrator just isn't the same and doesn't pronounce things right, definitely better than the other narrator in my opinion

Great Rendition
I confess that I'm a fan of Jim Dale's excellent reading of these iconic J.K. Rowling novels. True, he reads the Americanized iterations of the books (which are slightly inferior, imo).. but captures the tone *perfectly* during emotional character interactions and action scenes. Regardless, the imaginative writing is unimpeachable: the reputation of these books as exemplary children's/youth fiction is well-earned.
Steven Fry's diction, timbre, and cadence are typically outstanding (although he occasionally inspires too sharply).. but where Fry exceeds Dale is at voice-acting and capturing the whimsy of the Wizarding World & the Hogwarts environs.
Altogether, this is a 9.5/10-star recording of the First 'Harry Potter' installment. Dale's readings are superior as the series gets more and more serious - but this one is unbeatable for the introductory book. My advice (having read and listened to multiple versions on multiple platforms): Download this 'Pottermore Publishing'/Fry recording for 'The Philosopher's Stone' and Dale's 'Recorded Books' performances for Books 2-7.
