Passably Entertaining Continuation
Larry Correia does an admirable job weaving three major plotlines:
1. Former Protector and now General of the growing 'Sons Of The Black Sword' movement Ashok/'Fol' [along with some fascinating fellow rebels.. including religiously fanatical "Keeper of Names" Keta (Casteless); aggressively principled Jagdish (Warrior caste); and hulking money-hungry magic-sensing Gutch (Worker caste)] fights his way across the continent of Lok to rescue 'The Prophet'.
2. Said prophet Thera - in captivity with the assassin/wizards of the "Lost House" since the end of Book One - learns that she manifests a previously unknown type of magic (requiring neither Black Steel nor Demon Bone) and reminisces about her mysterious past through enlightening nicely-timed flashbacks.
..and..
3. First Caste Librarian Rada (accompanied by enigmatic Protector Karno at the insistence of his boss and Rada's lover, "High Protector" Devedas) uncovers the plot to commit Genocide on the casteless.. all while dodging the murderous Inquisitors.
Despite the complexity of the narrative, Correia meets his Book Two world-building mandate and advances the plot capably. He's guilty of a bit of over-the-top theatricality, but deficiencies were generally easy to ignore.
Doubtless, superlative reading from Tim Gerard Reynolds made the book more consumable, too. His peerless diction, timbre, cadence, and tone combine with inspired voice-acting to generate a cinematic listening product. If you are given the choice between this recording and a text version of the book, take this one every time.
Bottom Line: I enjoyed this 7.5/10-star effort. 'House Of Assassins' is heavily influenced by the Gilgamesh/Enkidu saga and Indian mythology - which is great - but also Bollywood romance-dramas and Asian swashbuckling radioplays that have a strong "Soap-Opera" flavor - less successfully.
I am easily intrigued enough to continue with the series, however.. despite being melodramatic at times, this richly built world yields "Quality Fantasy Done Well".

Much better than I expected.
I didn’t know much about Correia but I have listened a lot from Tim Gerard Reynolds. I decided to give it a try based on the Reynolds. What a great decision! The series has me and it’s getting better as it goes on. Very well written by Correia. Great character development; sympathetic, funny, loveable. Has done a masterful job with the main character and his changes (don’t want to spoil).
I recommend highly. TGR is the cream of audio narrating. Master at work.

Amazing story
Listened to the first book in this series, and fell in love with the story. Not only are the characters well written, their changes are well thought out, and make you interested in their continue growth. I can not wait for the next book! Tim Gerard Reynolds does a great job narrating this book as he always does, but gives the characters more depth then what is already given (which is a fairly good amount of depth already) to truly give all the characters struggles more plight! Definitely one of my top 5 book series I highly recommend this book!
