Description
The Book of Jubilees, sometimes called 'Little Genesis', is an ancient Jewish book that retells many of the stories in Genesis and Exodus with some additional details. It has been known in the West only since the 1840s, when European travellers acquired manuscripts from monasteries in Ethiopia. Then, in 1949, a complete Hebrew manuscript was found amongst the Dead Sea Scrolls. It is considered canonical by the Ethiopian Orthodox Church and one of the pseudepigrapha by Protestant, Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches. It was well known to Early Christians, as evidenced by the writings of Epiphanius, Justin Martyr, Origen and others.
The Book of Jubilees claims to have been revealed to Moses by angels while he was on Mount Sinai for 40 days and 40 nights. The chronology given in Jubilees is based on multiples of seven; the jubilees are periods of 49 years, into which all of time has been divided.
Robert Henry Charles (1859-1933), the translator of this edition, was a greatly respected Irish theologian and scholar who translated a range of Old Testament apocrypha and pseudepigrapha.
This audiobook version of The Book of Jubilees is read by Christopher Glyn and completes his project to provide a uniform narration of the King James Bible, the Apocrypha, the books of Enoch, Jasher and Jubilees.

The Book of Jasher, which means 'The Book of the Upright', is a non-canonical book mentioned twice in the Hebrew Bible. The narrative covers the period presented in Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Deuteronomy and Joshua in greater detail and with explanations that are not recorded in the Bible. In this professionally recorded audiobook, the rarely heard stories of The Book of Jasher are brought vividly to life by British narrator Christopher Glyn, best known for his narration of the King James Bible along with many other widely acclaimed Christian devotional works.

Histoire
Among the first seven scrolls discovered in the caves of Qumran at the Dead Sea is a scroll given the name "The Book of Giants". It is thought to have been based on the Book of Enoch, a pseudepigraphical Jewish work from the third century BCE. The Book of Giants, like the Book of Enoch, concerns itself with the Nephilim, which are the offspring of fallen angels, who are called the Watchers. Two main versions of the text exist. The Dead Sea version is written in Aramaic.

Histoire
The official editions of the King James contained the books of the Apocrypha until 1796. Most printers did not clear inventories and change to the 66-book version we know today until the mid 1800's. Ethymologically, the word "apocrypha" means "things that are hidden", but why they were hidden is not clear. Listen to find out more!
