À propos de cet audio
An international business expert helps you understand and navigate cultural differences in this insightful and practical guide, perfect for both your work and personal life.
Americans precede anything negative with three nice comments; French, Dutch, Israelis, and Germans get straight to the point; Latin Americans and Asians are steeped in hierarchy; Scandinavians think the best boss is just one of the crowd. It's no surprise that when they try and talk to each other, chaos breaks out. In The Culture Map, INSEAD professor Erin Meyer is your guide through this subtle, sometimes treacherous terrain in which people from starkly different backgrounds are expected to work harmoniously together. She provides a field-tested model for decoding how cultural differences impact international business, and combines a smart analytical framework with practical, actionable advice.

A must read for today’s team leader
Even for non-global organizations, this book is extremely helpful in articulating the differences in underlying values which manifest themselves in todays business environment from all aspects mentioned. Excellent toolkit to understand people, avoid conflict and working more productively and harmoniously.

Highly interesting and useful
Easy reading/listening. Extremely interesting content and even more important now that global teams will (almost) become the norm.

Helpful and well-read
I manage a small team of people with various workstyles and cultural backgrounds. This book is well-written; Erin Meyer covers the material very well, and Lisa Larsen is an excellent narrator. The pace and intonation of the audiobook are excellent. I also bought a hard copy so I could easily review the visuals instead of referring to the PDFs that come with the audiobook.

Too much dry [questionable?] theory, too few good practical examples
Occasional gems, but overall very little information. Author provides their finding with very few examples how they came up to these conclusions, or real world examples how these principles could be applied in business settings. Some argumentation why people from a certain culture behave a certain way leaves you hopping that it’s not the only place the author drew their conclusions from (because other reasoning is not provided). If you need to learn how to work in a multinational company, it probably would be useful to read this book, but prepare to fish for the useful information. Frankly, it’s my first book on this topic, maybe there are better options out there…
