Pretty interesting
A good novel to start the rediscovered faction. It's a bit rough around the edges but it's still pretty nice to see the mentality of the Kin.

A great start to the story of a new faction
Great start to the lore of the Votaan and the story in the modern imperial era. suggest a codex read first to help understand some of the concepts however

So Close
As a huge League of Votann fan, I was so excited for this novel. However, I feel that it lacks any staying power. One of the key scenes early in this book was the dinner with the Imperial Crew, and it was LITERALLY SUMMARIZED. No tension building, no awkward interactions, no clever political maneuvering This would have been a perfect section to properly differentiate the Kin and Imperium. The quality of story just does not seem to be good. At no time was a truly invested in the plot, I just kept waiting for something to happen and it never did. I found te performance was very poor, and the the voices that were done seemed to be carfoonish and did nit seem to fit with the narrative. Lately, I find Black library novels just do not have the same quality as older novels. Due to the last few misses i find myself wary of diving into another.

Interesting first taste
The first book of the Leagues of Votann does a good job of establishing the base ideas of the newest arrivals(reimagined version of an old subgroup) in the universe of 40k. I was surprised that this is more of a character centered book, laying down the foundation of her story as the leader of the leagues, but it was an enjoyable surprise.

couple of good turn around and good "oh sh!t" moments. definitely follows the lore on Kin and Votann. loved it

a rushed book filled with council meetings
this is the Warhammer a version of Star wars phantom menace. Very boring listening to non stop council meetings with squats. the Narrator put me to sleep so many times I need to double my caffeine intake. I'd skip this title; it made the squats seem overwhelming emotional in the grim dark future and at points made me think I was listening to a romance novel not a black library. Not what I expected for sure, almost made me want to sell my Votann army. Just read the Codex you'll get more enjoyment trust me.

Mediocre.
I have read several books by Gav Thorpe and enjoyed most of them. I was looking forward to the first Leagues of Votann novel. Story was forgettable. Characters were either unlikable or just didn’t care about them. I felt like the narrator was a poor choice for this book. I was surprisingly disappointed on just about every level.
As i said before, most of Gav Thorpes books are decent, so this wont stop me from listening/reading his next one.
