Just when I reach my breaking point, Miles, the single dad living at the inn, swoops in to my life to rescue me. He was my protector in my childhood, my enemy in my teenage years, and now?
Now, I'm not so sure. Especially when his love for his daughter is contagious, or the way he looks at me when he doesn't know I see him. I'm so confused, and I want to run away like I did in the past, but I can't. And when Miles touches me like that...I don't want to.
Luckily, I find a friend in Abigail, the local bookstore owner. She's one of the only residents who doesn't know about my past and seems to be looking for the same thing I am, a place to belong.

curious
I'm alittle torn on this one. This kind of soft romance is usually not my cup of sweet tea but after finishing the first book I'm intrigued. There are so many holes left to fill in and im curious on how the author will fill them. Shelbys character is a little whiny for my taste but I can understand that there's trauma when your bullied by the entire community of your hometown, so I'm willing to overlook that. So far I like the other character development and want to learn more. I feel like parts of the story are going to be predictable and I kinda hope the author throws out some curveballs in the next book and proves my suspicions wrong. Personally I liked the narrators performance for this book. I didn't find her hard to listen to at all.

Hated the narration
The story was ok, but if there are long passages like chapters from a male pov, it should be read by a guy. Not a woman trying to sound like a guy. It takes away from the story.

Disappointingly slow…
I was really excited to start this book, but it’s excessively slow moving… by chapter 15 you have hardly been introduced to the characters.
Great bedtime book because you can pick up 4 chapters later and haven’t missed anything.

Writing was great I didn’t like…..
I didn’t like that there were whole chapters on supporting characters also telling the same info I got in the last chapter. I’m reading a book based on the characters that are in the blurb, I don’t mind having supporting characters but I like my books to revolve around the main characters.

The most all over the place book ever.
There were like 2 completely different story lines. It just dragged with little to no growth in the plot. Also there was this dramatic backstory that didn’t make sense and they didn’t really touch on it which was what the entire plot was on. Overall bad.
