My goodness how are these just so good.. I can’t put them down! They are incredible! The family history.. the taboo.. just so good!!

Chilling

I must admit this is a hard series to get through for me because most of the endings are grim. The stories have been well fleshed out and quite interesting. The movement between past and present took some getting use to but ultimately become something I enjoyed and gave the story a bit of a breather. There are definitely moments of shock and awe in this book but it feeds well into the story and the time being portrayed. It's worth the listen.

I'm not one to give spoilers so you will have to listen if you want to know but I will say, I dont often find an author that I will follow for more then 1 or 2 books but to be honest, I think I just found a new favorite author. the story line was fantastic set in Louisiana mostly with both current day and hundreds of years in the past, I love history so that made me very happy. the main character can hold things from the past and see what happened basically. It is compelling with history and mystery and modern day romance and just a great listen. already on to the lovers, seems just as good!

These books have terrible characters,especially the women. The protagonist and her inner circle are vapid, self involved misogynists -I honestly started listening to this series bc I was driving and cleaning a lot and wanted a series that I could dig into, but I’m now just hate listening to them waiting for any character redemption. If you’re nauseous by the repetitive demonization of women, and aggrandizing of rapists throughout this series, join the club. And this author needs to stop writing female centric books as she clearly despises women.

What in the SA apologist is up with these books???
