  • Raids, Ramps, and Sanctuary Cities: The Immigration Rollercoaster Under Trump
    Jan 29 2025

    Send us a text

In the early weeks of the Trump administration, immigration raids and deportations have sharply increased across the U.S. Federal agencies like the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) are conducting targeted operations, with White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stating that the administration considers all undocumented immigrants to be criminals.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has partnered with agencies such as the FBI, DEA, and ATF to carry out these operations. Raids have taken place in states including Texas, Colorado, Illinois, Florida, New Jersey, New York, and California. In New York City, the focus of some raids was on individuals allegedly connected to the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. Those arrested included individuals wanted for violent crimes such as burglary, kidnapping, and possession of firearms. Notably, the administration has expanded its focus to include all individuals in the country without legal status, not just those with criminal records.

Cities like Chicago, designated as "sanctuary cities," have policies that limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement actions. This approach has drawn significant criticism, especially over concerns about the treatment of migrants and the practice of family separations.

  • Gold, Explosives, and a Burned Getaway Car: The Great Museum Heist of 2025!
    Jan 27 2025

    Send us a text

On Saturday, January 25, 2025, thieves orchestrated a daring heist at the Drents Museum in Assen, Netherlands, using explosives to breach the building and steal priceless artifacts from the "Dacia - Empire of Gold and Silver" exhibition. Among the stolen treasures were the gold Helmet of Coțofenești, dating back to around 450 BC, and three gold Dacian bracelets from approximately 50 BC. These artifacts were on loan from the National History Museum of Romania and were highly significant cultural treasures. The exhibition was scheduled to conclude the following day.

The Helmet of Coțofenești is particularly renowned for its intricate design, featuring mythological scenes, and its exceptional state of preservation. The gold bracelets are believed to have originated from Sarmizegetusa Regia, the ancient Dacian capital, further underscoring their historical and cultural importance.

The theft has been described as a devastating loss for both the Drents Museum and the Romanian people. Authorities, in collaboration with Interpol, are investigating the crime. The suspects reportedly used a stolen gray car, which was later found burned. As a result of the heist, the museum has been closed until further notice.
