  • There's a Riot Goin' On by Sly and the Family Stone Album Review
    Feb 8 2025
In this week's episode, Matt and Ryan take a look at the fifth studio album by Sly and the Family Stome called There's a Riot Goin' On. Released in 1971, the album's recording was dominated by the band's frontman Sly Stone during a time of drug use and group tensions. The recording shifted away from the optimistic sound of their previous records and embraced a darker more challenging sound. The album centered its lyrically around themes of apathy and disillusionment of Sly's rise to fame and the political climate of the time. In 1999, the album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.Check out what the guys have to say about the record.
