  • There's a Riot Goin' On by Sly and the Family Stone Album Review

    In this week's episode, Matt and Ryan take a look at the fifth studio album by Sly and the Family Stome called There's a Riot Goin' On. Released in 1971, the album's recording was dominated by the band's frontman Sly Stone during a time of drug use and group tensions. The recording shifted away from the optimistic sound of their previous records and embraced a darker more challenging sound. The album centered its lyrically around themes of apathy and disillusionment of Sly's rise to fame and the political climate of the time.
