Horses, Mountains & Dogs

Auteur(s): Cat Caldwell Myers
  • Résumé

  • This Podcast returns us to the wisdom of our great grandparents and ancestors who likely worked with horses, mountains and dogs daily. Each episode contains actionable tools, tips and stories for modern day families and people to connect with nature through animals, as we have done for millennia. The work is a reflection of the truth about who we were, who we are, and who we might become if we only take the time to listen and work together with horses, mountains and dogs to grow mentally, physically, and spiritually one day at a time.

  • What is it About Paradoxes?
    Mar 6 2025

In this episode, I do a deep dive into what paradoxes are—and what they are not—as well as why I chose this word as the title for my book and podcast.

The Mom's Adventure Paradox is more than just a name; it’s a rally cry to do the deeper inner work. I explore how paradoxes show up in life, using my own experiences with skiing injuries, motherhood, and fitness to illustrate their unexpected twists.

One powerful example is the idea that youth is wasted on the young. I moved to Jackson Hole in my 20s to ski before my knees aged—only to suffer injuries that completely changed my journey. Ironically, pregnancy later healed my knee, showing me firsthand how life’s contradictions often shape our paths in ways we never expect.

Growth happens when we lean into life’s contradictions—so pause, reflect, and keep going. Your adventure is unfolding.

If this episode resonated with you, I’d love for you to leave a review, reach out, or continue the conversation!

    Show Notes:

AI overview of a paradox: a statement or situation that seems to contradict itself, but may still be true. It can also refer to a person or thing with contradictory qualities.

  • Who is Cat Caldwell Myers
    Mar 4 2025

In this minisode of Mom’s Adventure Paradox, I dive into the idea of introductions, reintroductions, and how we present ourselves to the world. I explore my own journey of introducing and reintroducing myself, recognizing that who I am is always evolving.

I also touch on the importance of connection. Every conversation, every introduction, every exchange transforms us. We are never the same person twice, just as we can never step into the same river twice. Life is a series of introductions and reintroductions, and embracing this process allows us to grow.

Where are you holding yourself back? Where are you afraid to introduce yourself, to step forward, to claim space?

Introducing ourselves is not just about how others perceive us. It’s about being present with ourselves, embracing who we are in each moment, and recognizing that we are enough as we are.

My name is Cat, and I love connecting with moms who, I believe, are always thinking about the next generation just as much as themselves. Many of us navigate the paradox of who we once were and the passions that have always been a part of us—for me, that’s horses. I want to be remembered for connecting people to nature through animals - to their essential nature.

  • Meeting Yourself in Times of Transition
    Feb 24 2025

Recording from a chalet in Arabba, Italy, I reflect on my Italian skiing journey, the importance of self-care, and the emotional shifts that come with travel and transitions. Waking up to church bells and a breathtaking view of the Dolomites, I embrace the need for rest and recovery after intense days on the slopes.

A simple laundry day turns into an adventure, with language barriers, a faulty machine, and a trek to an ATM. A kind Italian stranger helps me, and I find humor in sharing space with chickens. It’s a reminder to stay flexible and adapt. A beautiful experience still has it's laundry.

    Takeaways from this Episode:

    • Embracing the emotional ups and downs of transitions, including the bittersweet feeling when a great experience comes to an end.
    • Staying flexible and adaptable when unexpected changes and challenges arise.
    • Recognizing the importance of personal responsibility, whether in travel, adventure, or everyday situations.

As I prepare to ski to a hut in Lagoszo, carrying all I need, I reflect on trusting the journey. Balancing adventure with everyday tasks teaches me patience and resilience. No matter where I am, I can turn on my mic and share my story—embracing the beauty of both the highs and the in-between moments.
