In this #PFT, I share the importance of talking out your thoughts, feelings, and aspirations when deciding to change "lanes". When you decide to make a significant change in your life, you kinda put yourself on an island. An island that feels lonely and misunderstood. It's not easy to say good-bye to the happenings of the past and embrace a hopeful future. I remember feeling the most overhwelmed when I decided to NOT pursue my current career path. Depression, anxiety and fear a plenty. What got me through it was simply talking it out with trusted confidants.Talking it out may even help you as you embark through change too.

In this #PFT, it's about taking those baby steps necessary to prepare for significant life changes. Now significant changes and life pivots are not easy. Most of you are probably terrified to change your current path in life. I get it. But did you ever realize there are people you know that have learned to break personal and societal conditioning and they just made it happen? They never became the best in pursuing new venture. They expanded themselves, took a risk and were okay with being just good at it. They started with taking small steps and pivots towards change and exercised that change "muscle", simply comfortable with medicrity. It starts with a small step to prepare you for the big ones.

In this #PFT, there is an absolute with any change that happens to us or change we make for ourselves. That absolute is benefit and pain. No change exists without consequence. Change affects us personally and can affect those closest to us. We would love to see the future and assume that if we make a significant change in our lives things will always be better, or if we don't make a change we'll avoid the any pain at all. It's just impossible to predict and the constant is there will always be benefits as well as pain. A yin and yang. We must accept the truth and must plow through it.

In this #PFT, there are things we can control ourselves and things that happen to us that we can't. What if we take ownership of EVERYTHING that happens to us and not just what we are solely responsible for? Two recent experiences has taught me the positives and negatives of deciding to be responsible for everything I experience. I never thought a brand new construction project and a birthday dinner with my best friend could be so educational.

In trhis #PFT, I have a confession to make. I know that getting the "win" or eventually being recognised for a significant success takes time. You gotta put in the work and the hours. Unfortunatkky my ego, on occassion, wants to hear none of that. We can't just snap our fingers and get to the end of the marathon to get our winning trophy. Between. judging oithers for their well earned successes and worrying about project "finish lines", I got a lot of learning to do. Time to pay it forward.

In this #PFT, making your own decisions to manifest change in your life is one thing. The uncontrollable events that occur, creating unforseen transitions are something very different. Dealing with these transitions manifests feelings of anxiety, stress, and fear. It becomes difficult to even convince ourselves that this too shall pass and we can handle it. It has taken me a lifetime of driving on the roads, a career managing mass layoffs as an HR professional, and now painting houses to learn the most effective way to handle life's unknown transitons is simply to embrace EVERY transition. Practice, practice, practice.
