  • Replay: 7 Winning Steps for Salary Negotiation
    Feb 18 2025

Since 2011, I've hosted negotiation trainings that can be best described as scrappy, pragmatic, and useful.

It started with humble Meetups where I got a bunch of the smartest women I know into a room and had them practice asking for what they wanted -- out loud.

When the pandemic hit, I consciously decided to focus primarily on my 1:1 executive coaching, and everything moved to Zoom.

(You can read about my coaching philosophy, process, and pricing right over here on the website)

Since then, I've continued to host free negotiation webinars that have reached thousands.

Why? Because a rising tide lifts all boats.

Career advancement is already gate-kept enough for women and minorities. Simple, time-tested strategies for self-advocacy shouldn't be.

Way back when I was getting started, I made a promise to myself that the measure of my success would be the extent to which my free subscribers get real VALUE out of what I share freely.

That’s why, in this episode, I’m sharing a replay of my most recent webinar: 7 Winning Steps for Salary Negotiation.

    You'll learn:

    • How to overcome common challenges including confidence and mindset, so you avoid common pitfalls of playing too small and leaving money on the table.
    • A simple 3-step framework for making the ask, whether you're negotiating an offer or a pay raise.
    • How to write smart ChatGPT prompts that make you sound human, relatable, and compelling when you ask for what you want.
    • Real-life client case studies, and specific how-to's you can implement right away.

  • 5 Truths About Salary Negotiation Your Employer Doesn't Want You to Know
    Feb 5 2025

🔥This might get me fired, I say to my clients to preface this truth bomb —

The game is rigged against employees.

Learning to negotiate for yourself is an essential part of playing to win the game.

The system is rigged to benefit the select few at the top and shareholders, not the hard-working manager or multi-talented individual contributor. And if you’re a hard-working woman or a minority, the odds are even worse.

But all is not lost. You need to learn how to:

    ✅ Advocate for yourself
    ✅ Negotiate your pay
    ✅ Play the game strategically

🆓 On 2/14, I taught a very tactical, action-oriented salary negotiation webinar, and you can watch the replay HERE

I’m sharing several real client case studies and winning strategies — all from the lived experiences of real women and people of color.

🎧 Mentioned in this episode: interview with former client Grace Anniskett is HERE.

  • On The Burnout Club: Chasing Feelings vs. Working Hard: Insights on Avoiding Burnout
    Jan 2 2025

This is a replay of my interview on The Burnout Club podcast, hosted by Patrice Bonfiglio—a hedge fund industry veteran and all-around powerhouse.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Burnout isn’t caused by working hard—it’s driven by chasing a specific feeling or using emotion as fuel to push yourself to extremes.
    • A key sign of burnout is physical illness—it often shows up through physical symptoms.
    • Overcoming burnout requires a two-pronged approach: logical reasoning combined with subconscious work using hypnotic techniques for focused relaxation and deeper insights.
    • Real-life examples from my high-achieving clients show how chasing feelings of accomplishment or confidence can unintentionally lead to burnout.
    • Reflections from Patrice and me on our experience attending the Project 1490 retreat, where we first met in person.

  • Doing the Work of Byron Katie about the Summer I was Homeless
    Dec 19 2024

As the year comes to a close, many of us find ourselves being unusually hard on ourselves. The “itty-bitty-shitty committee” in our minds grows louder, fueled by the pressure of the year-end. We take stock of the past twelve months and too often hold them against ourselves like a harsh jury.

For some, the holidays — the Christmas season — can feel particularly challenging, especially if the memories associated with this time aren’t the happiest. It’s a season that often drags us back into childhood, stirring up complicated emotions.

In today’s episode, I’m sharing a deeply personal story of how I’ve learned to rewrite stories about a time I was once homeless, the profound impact of Byron Katie’s teachings, and what's possible when you turn these stories around.

If you’re feeling the weight of the year or the pull of old memories, this one’s for you. Let’s dive in.

    Dec 12 2024

I'm joined by Joyce Kao and Heidi Seibold, the co-founders of the Digital Research Academy.

Joyce and Heidi have an inspiring entrepreneurial journey.

As former researchers, they decided to take the leap and co-found the Digital Research Academy, a training network focused on open science and research best practices.

In our conversation, they share the challenges they faced in making the decision to build the academy independently and how coaching helped them gain clarity on a key decision for the academy, or their "brain child."

Now in their first year, they're seeing incredible demand for their work and are passionate about the importance of open science.

This is a story of betting on yourself, finding the right partner, and using your expertise to create something meaningful.

    Dec 9 2024

This is a replay of a recent online workshop I delivered called "How to Tap into Brain Magic When the World Feels like a Dumpster Fire."

    Here's what you'll learn:

    • Why accessing the unconscious matters when you want to take new action and advocate for yourself, especially when you're a woman, a person of color, or of any other marginalized identity
    • How to overcome self-advocacy jitters and imposter syndrome, particularly for women, minorities, and neurodiverse individuals.
    • A demo of the "shift out and shut up" technique, something you can do in the middle of 1:1 conversations to help you feel more grounded, attentive, and alive.
    • A demo of a simple practice based on Princeton University's Dr. Les Fehmi's book Open Focus Brain, which induces alpha brain wave state
    • How to lower anxiety by activating both sides of the brain.
    • A demo of a guided visualization to mentally rehearse a desired outcome.
    • Tangible techniques to improve neuroplasticity and confidence.
