  • Tyler Lockett joins the show to talk Seahawks’ Season Review & Playoff Preview

    Russell and Jeff start the show by introducing their guest – Tyler Lockett, one of the best wide receivers to ever wear a Seahawks jersey! They start off the show by discussing Tyler’s impressive skill set that has allowed him to flourish in the NFL. Russell tells Tyler how he observed him putting in the extra work as a rookie, and knew he was going to be a special player. 

    (6:30) Jeff asks Russell and Tyler to recap their win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday; why they started slow and what ‘clicked’ for them in the 4th quarter. Jeff then asks the guys why they decided to throw a quick pitch to David Moore instead of taking a knee at the end of the game, and whether or not they were scoreboard watching.

    (15:45) Russell and Tyler talk playoffs; Tyler explains the frustration that came with the Seahawks’ last two playoff losses, and what he thinks the team needs to do to get over the hump. Russell praises his top two receivers, Tyler and D.K. Metcalf, for both of their impressive years. Jeff then asks Russell and Tyler where their chemistry on the field comes from. 

    (48:31) Russell lets listeners in on Tyler’s away game presentations, and how they always get the team excited about traveling. Tyler explains to the guys how being himself, however cliché, is how he has managed to become the player he is today.

  • Seahawks clinch the NFC West! Jerry Rice joins the show to talk G.O.A.T.s & Championships

    Russell and Jeff start the show by discussing the Seahawks victory over the Rams, and what it means to win the NFC West title in such a hectic year. Russell explains to Jeff what was going through his head on their last drive when Russell threw to Jacob Hollister the game winning touchdown.

    (5:55) Russell and Jeff introduce their guest, Jerry Rice – considered by most to be the greatest wide receiver of all time! Jerry talks about how he became a San Francisco 49er, and how he got off to a bad start with the team. Jerry then talks to the guys about his company, G.O.A.T. Fuel, and why he is so passionate about the product. 

    (20:45) Russell and Jerry start off the “Cookin’ with Russ” segment by discussing Jerry’s upbringing in Crawford, Mississippi. Jerry talks to Russell about his family dynamic and how his parents instilled in him that hard work is the key to success. Jerry then tells Russell how, through hard work, he become the very best football player he could be, and was able to set the example for his teammates. Russell then asks Jerry about his relationships with both Joe Montana and Steve Young. 

    (35:45) Russell asks Jerry about his training regimen, and how he pushed his body to the limit to gain an advantage against NFL defenses. Russell asks Jerry what advice he would give him to sustain his level of play over the second half of his career.

  • Seahawks clinch a playoff berth, Sue Bird joins the show to talk winning the WNBA Championship, playing for the US National Team, and her engagement to Megan Rapinoe

    Russell and Jeff begin the show by discussing the Seahawks’ victory over the Washington Football Club, that clinched a playoff spot for the team! Russell gives a lot of credit to their run game, which allowed them to be very efficient on offense. The guys talk about Russell’s sustained success, having made the playoffs 8 of his 9 years. 

    (9:42) Russell and Jeff introduce this week’s guest, Sue Bird – a Seattle legend and one of the greatest winners of all time! Russell starts the interview by asking Sue what she has been up to in 2020. Sue explains to the guys her experience in the WNBA bubble and what it felt like to win her fourth title. Russell then pivots the conversation to ask Sue about her recent engagement to her partner, Megan Rapinoe. 

    (18:35) Russell and Sue begin the ‘Cookin’ with Russ’ segment by talking about Sue’s upbringing in New York. She explains to Russell how playing AAU basketball shaped her life, why she picked basketball over soccer, and how she decided to attend the University of Connecticut. Russell asks her about her relationship with legendary basketball coach, Geno Auriemma.

    (40:20) Russell asks Sue about her championships, her Olympic gold medals, and how she has taken care of her body over her 20-year career. Russell asks Sue who she thinks are the best male and female basketball players of all time, and which NBA team she thinks will win the NBA championship this year.

  • Seahawks blowout the Jets, Erin Andrews joins the show to talk 2013 NFC Championship Game, Her Career, and Women in Sports

    Russell and Jeff begin the show by discussing the Seahawks blowout victory over the New York Jets. Russell talks about how focused the team was the entire week, as they prepped to rebound after last week’s tough loss. Jeff asks Russell what it’s like to be the first quarterback in NFL history to have a winning record in his first nine seasons. 

    (4:00) Russell and Jeff then introduce their guest Erin Andrews, a sportscaster, television host, and actress. To start the interview the guys ask Erin what she’s been up to during quarantine, and how her job has changed as a reporter. Russell then asks Erin about her clothing line WEAR – a team apparel company specifically for women. Jeff transitions the conversation to the 2013 NFC Championship game when the Seahawks won in dramatic fashion over the 49ers. Russell recounts the game, and Jeff asks Erin about her postgame interview with Richard Sherman. 

    (27:15) Russell and Erin start the ‘Cooking with Russ’ segment by discussing her relationship with her father and how they bonded over sports. She explains to Russell why she ended up choosing the University of Florida, and how she tried to “affect” their games as a cheerleader. Russell asks Erin who she looked up to in the industry when she was younger, and who she wanted to be like. 

    (44:20) Russell and Erin recount the first time they met, when Russell was at N.C. State University. They discuss how the sports landscape has changed as more women are joining the industry. Russell asks Erin what advice she would give to a young girl looking to work in the sports industry.

  • How The Seahawks Bounce Back, Dwyane Wade joins the show to talk USA ‘Redeem Team’, Miami Big 3, and his Business Ventures

    Russell and Jeff start the show by discussing the Seahawks’ disappointing loss to the New York Giants on Sunday. During the conversation Russell gives Jeff some honest insight into how he and the team played. To finish the topic, Jeff asks Russell how he plans to approach the remaining four games in the regular season. 

    Russell and Jeff then introduce their guest Dwyane Wade, a three-time NBA champion, Olympic gold medalist, and savvy businessman. To begin the interview, Dwyane lets the guys know that during quarantine he has spent more time with his family than ever before. As customary, Jeff asks Dwyane which NFL team he supports, and is alarmed when Dwyane says he supports his hometown Chicago Bears. 

    Russell and Dwyane begin their one-on-one interview talking about their commitment to the game off the field, specifically their bodies (15:30). They each explain how they realized at an early point in their respective careers that they needed to invest in their bodies if they were going to play the game for as long as they would like to. Russell then asks Dwyane about his childhood, and Dwyane explains to Russell some of the hardships he had to overcome in order to not only become successful, but just to survive. Dwyane tells Russell about his relationship with his mother, who has had a very well documented tumultuous life, but one with a happy ending!

    Russell transitions the conversation to talk about Dwyane’s historic basketball career (35:00). Russell asks him what it was like to win his first NBA championship. Russell then asks Dwyane about the 2008 USA ‘Redeem Team’, who won the gold medal at the Olympics in Beijing. Dwyane talks about the overall experience, and highlights some of his first memories with the late, great, Kobe Bryant (46:10). To finish the conversation about Dwyane’s illustrious basketball career the guys talk about the Miami Heat Big 3.

    To wrap-up their one-on-one conversation (1:03) they discuss business; what drives them to achieve more, how they decide to invest in something, and why philanthropy is a staple of their portfolios.

  • The Seahawks MNF Win! Ciara joins the show and they talk their Relationship, and their new Business Venture

    Russell and Jeff start off the show by discussing the Seahawks’ win in Philadelphia on Monday Night Football. Jeff asks Russell how he and the team managed to stay positive after not converting on two fourth downs in the first quarter. Russell recaps the week leading up to the game, as both Thanksgiving and his birthday occurred then. Russell then explains to Jeff what dictates his decisions to pass to certain players, how having Carson and Hyde back positively affect the offense, and he then shows love to the defense for their effectiveness over the past few games. 

    (8:30) Russell and Jeff introduce their guest Ciara Wilson, who is a Grammy award winning singer & songwriter, CEO, dancer, and model. Russell asks Ciara about her upbringing in Decatur, Georgia. Russell then talks about asking Ciara’s father, Carlton, for his daughter’s hand in marriage. After talking about their wedding, Russell and Ciara reminisce about their first date, and then about their first public appearance as a couple…at the White House.

    (28:30) Russell asks Ciara about her early career, and about when she “made it” with the release of the album ‘Goodies’. Russell talks to Ciara about where he was in life when they first met, and how she made an immediate, positive impact from day one. Russell then highlights Ciara’s recent accomplishments in the business world, and the growth she has shown in the industry. 

    (36:30) Russell and Ciara bring on an additional guest, Christine Day, the President of Russell and Ciara’s new business venture – The House of LR&C. The House of LR&C (Love, Respect & Care) is a fashion house that includes two clothing brands: Good Man Brand and Human Nation. Christine explains what The House of LR&C is all about, and the pillars upon which the company is founded.

    (:25) Russell and Jeff begin the show by discussing the Seahawks’ win over Arizona on Thursday night. Russell talks in depth about how he has stayed positive throughout some bad play by himself this year, noting that the good, thankfully, outweighs the bad. Jeff asks Russell if he felt “beat up” after playing against Aaron Donald and the Los Angeles Rams the previous Sunday. Russell breaks down how hard it is to play Thursday night games, and both the mental and physical toll that it puts on players’ bodies due to the lack of recovery time. 

    (11:52) Russell and Jeff then introduce their guest Mark Cuban, who is a famous entrepreneur, television personality, and NBA team owner. Russell asks Mark about his decision to financially take care of the Dallas Mavericks’ staff members at the beginning of the pandemic, and Mark tells him why it was an easy decision. Mark gives the guys his top Mavericks in terms of impact within the Dallas community. (37:10) Russell asks Mark to compare Luka Doncic to someone else, and I bet you won’t guess which NBA legends he picks. 

    (30:36) Russell and Mark jump into ‘Cooking with Russ’ to discuss Mark’s upbringing, NBA ownership, and entrepreneurial mindset, just to name a few of the topics. Mark talks about how he knew at a young age that he was going to have to work for anything and everything he wanted, as nothing would be given to him. 

    (39:36) Russell asks Mark about his love for sports and what drove him to buy the Dallas Mavericks. Russell asks him why he is so vocal as an owner, and what he thinks of the criticism he receives because of it. (1:01:11) Russell and Mark talk about his role on ABC’s Shark Tank, and what he enjoys most about the show.

    (0:50) Russell and Jeff start the show by discussing the Seahawks’ loss to Buffalo. Russell admits that he made a few uncharacteristic mistakes “trying to make something happen”. Russell talks about what it was like to have Jamal Adams back on the field, and how Carlos Dunlap immediately helped the team after he joined them last week. (8:40) Jeff asks Russell what he expects out of the Seahawks upcoming game with the Los Angeles Rams.

    (9:45) Mike Tyson, the youngest boxer ever to win a heavyweight title, joins the show! Russell asks Mike how he has been preparing for his upcoming fight against Roy Jones Jr., scheduled for November 28th. Russell tells the story of the last time he saw Mike, when he was in France training with Serena Williams. (18:35) Russell asks Mike about his childhood, specifically his upbringing in Brooklyn, New York. Mike talks about his first professional loss and his mindset afterwards; he describes how he was able to motivate himself to win another championship. 

    (30:45) Russell and Mike agree that the mental aspect of each of their respective sports is more important than the physical aspect. They transition to talking about the difference between “being great” and “being good”. Mike then gives Russell some insight into his Foundation – the Mike Tyson Cares Foundation. 

    (46:55) Jeff rejoins the conversation to lead the guys through the 2-minute drill. (56:25) After Mike leaves the show the guys recap the interview, and make their predictions for how they see Mike’s upcoming fight playing out.
