    ========================================

    Episode Summary:

    In this week’s episode of “Pumpkins and Politics” with Chad George, Chad will be kicking off this “spooky” month with a countdown of the Top 5 of the World’s Most Infamous People. This week, we will begin with number five, Benedict Arnold.

    We are continuing our weekly series of the “50 Most Influential people” segment, where Chad chooses one influential person from each state to talk about. This week, our influential person is from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Nathaniel Hawthorne was born in Salem Massachusetts. He was American novelist, dark romantic, and short story writer. His works often focus on history, morality, and religion.

    In this episode, we touch on some key points:

    1.   Benedict Arnold was an American military officer who served during the Revolutionary War.

    2.   He fought with distinction for the American Continental Army, rising to the rank of major general.

    3.   He defected to the British side of the conflict in 1780.

    4.   Arnold’s name quickly became a byword in the United States for treason and betrayal because he led the British Army in battle against the very men whom he had once commanded.

    5.   Nathaniel Hawthorne was an American novelist, who was born in Salem, Massachusetts. He wrote dark romantic, and short stories and his works often focused on history, morality, and religion.
