Theology at Home

  • Résumé

  • You believe in Jesus and His word, but sometimes, connecting the dots between your faith and your life is hard. You want to live for Jesus but struggle to live out what you know. And let’s face it, life interrupts our best attempts to study the word of God consistently. When it feels like your theology (study/knowledge of God and His word) is far removed from what you are experiencing in your life, I pray this space is a place where you can dive deeper into God’s word with me. “Theology at Home” is where we discover fresh insights into God’s word to help us hold onto our faith in all life's ups and downs without compromise. Learning about God and His Word should not be in a hostile environment. Theology at home is a space full of truth and grace. What we believe about God and His word is not just knowledge but living truth that informs how we navigate life and the surrounding culture. Theology is not just for the academically-minded. It's for everyone. While everyone can be a theologian, the question is, what kind of theologian are you? Listen in and join me as we discuss topics you can apply to your life, as well as difficult passages you might not have known how to apply. Feel free to send me topics to consider, as well!

  • Ep. #6 What is God's Design for Marriage?
    Feb 3 2025

Are you happy in your marriage? What do you base that happiness on? What if our preconceptions about marriage bring problems into our marriage? And what if a theological understanding of marriage from the One Who designed it can produce the happiest marriage we have ever experienced?

Marriage jokes are the norm in today’s culture, and probably most people have heard at one time or another jokes that demean marriage as a relationship akin to having a ball and chain or shackles on. But what if the culture around us puts those shackles on us? What if we are viewing our marriage through a worldly lens rather than a biblical one?

Listen in as we discuss how to view marriage through a theological lens in today’s episode of Theology at Home.

Have you ever struggled to understand what the OT is saying? Determining meaning of Scripture can be difficult when we have the bridge of time and culture to cross.

It is a common feeling that the OT is primarily just laws, but what if we are wrong? What if tucked in those laws is a message we are missing?

Join Dr. Joseph Cathey, professor of the OT and former archaeologist as we discuss in part 1 of our interview the relevance of the OT to us today and look at what hinders us from seeing its relevance.

A lack of desire coupled with a lack of understanding of the nature of God and His purposes in the Old Testament can cause us to miss the significance of the Old Tesstament.

Listen in as we unpack why the Old Testament matters in this compelling interview and leave a comment to share your thoughts on the Old Testament.
