The story of the Klin comes full circle. After failing to conquer the Expansion—again—the aliens set their sights once again on Earth and the human race. This time, they're bringing their deadly subcutaneous microchips to get the race to do their bidding. But when things go horribly wrong, the Klin have to look at alternatives. When Adam Cain's old bounty-hunting friends, Summer, Monty, and Tidus, show up searching for the most-wanted fugitive in the galaxy, their efforts are thwarted by another old friend, Copernicus Smith. The deep-cover spy has his own reason for finding the fugitive, and it's not to earn the million-credit bounty offered for his capture. The elusive alien absconded with billions of credits from his homeworld just before the Mad Aris Kracion irradiated the planet. And now it seems as though the entire galaxy is looking for him.

Xander Moore is the senior pilot at the Rapid Defense Center, the clearinghouse for America's defensive drone force. Although only in his mid-thirties, Xander is the "old man" at the Center, as other pilots are barely out of high school. But these kids, as gamers most of their lives, are skilled at remote drone operation and combat tactics.

Adam Cain: Bounty Hunter, Mercenary, Bodyguard. In his line of work, Adam makes a lot of enemies. The problem: Enemies have long memories. So when Dr. Ben Peterson is offered twenty million dollars to develop the so-called Body Fortress Drug—a cure for all disease—he was surprised as anyone when he actually did it! However, along the way, he also developed the opposite, a drug that leaves the body susceptible to ALL diseases . . . the perfect biological weapon.

When The Human takes on a minor mercenary job of protecting a group of settlers against alien marauders, it seems simple enough . . . until the bad guys don't take no for an answer, leaving Adam with only one option.
