Paladins are supposed to exist in stories and games, right? That’s what galactic space smuggler Guy Sutherland thought, too. Now he’s a Paladin. It started when he held an ancient sword, brimming with strange magic. Things got weird after that, like stat screens listing his nifty skills and attributes. The planet of Faeheim is undergoing the same change. A wave of energy is changing the world, assigning classes and levels to the fae, turning animals into monsters, and spurring the empire to commit multiple atrocities.

After escaping from the Autumnfall Empire, Guy and his friends travel to Alfheimr, the planet of the elves, to investigate the rumors of a second princess Averyl. It turns out there are two fae princesses in the galaxy, one a runaway from the empire, and the other a princess of thieves.

Upon awaking from their multiyear cryostasis sleep, Rebecca, commander of the ESRS Carl Sagan, and her crew quickly discover that what exists in the Sirius system isn’t what scientists had predicted. Their journey to the brightest star in the skies of Earth has now become a dreadful catastrophe with the potential to reach Earth if left unchecked. With innocent colonists at risk and no means of communicating with Earth, Rebecca must abandon her primary mission of exploration in order to take on a new one - survival.
