He serves Christ now as a pastor and teacher, but he was not always this way. As a child he was a headache for his parents and a lazy dreamer. Later he was a liar, prankster, and less than sincere man who often treated his fellow man poorly. But while he was a sinner, God forgave him and changed him. His narrow escapes from disaster while in cars and canoes, Navy jets and dirt bikes, showed him plainly that someone greater than he was watching over him.

How did this change happen, and was it justified? As this book explains, it was largely due to the onslaught of naturalism-based science during the 1800s as energized by the critical philosophy of Immanuel Kant. Science pressured the schools, but the addition of Kant's super-subjectivism turned science into a religion that could not live at peace with Christianity.

Are the Old Testament's messianic-era prophecies fulfilled in the church? Yes! Are these same prophecies fulfilled in Israel? Yes! The church does not completely "replace" Israel. How can this be? Because Israel fulfills these prophecies literally, and the church fulfills them spiritually (figuratively). Throughout her long history, the church has generally assumed that these prophecies describe the final, immortal, blessed ("saved") state, and thus can only be spiritually fulfilled in the church.

Does the Tanakh (the “Old Testament”) teach the divinity of the Messiah (the Christ)? The answer is “yes!” and this book will show how. The development of the Messiah theme in the Tanakh is a subtle progressive revelation, but there is nevertheless plenty there to demonstrate that a great king will one day come who will reconcile Jews and Gentiles back to God and will rule the earth as not only the son of David but also as the Son of God. To our natural minds, this seems impossible: the infinite God coming to us as a finite man; “but with God all things are possible.”
